On October 25, OSB Group, in collaboration with the Nam Po District People’s Committee (Dien Bien Province), inaugurated and handed over satellite internet stations to Ho Hai 1 School (Cha Cang Commune) and Huoi Pung School (Pa Tan Commune). This milestone is part of OSB Group’s “Digital Schools for Remote Areas – OSB and Partners” an annual initiative to expand internet and voice coverage to schools and communities in underserved regions. By providing internet access to these remote areas, the program brings technology within reach for teachers, students, and local residents, fostering connection and opportunity across Vietnam’s most isolated areas.

The charitable initiative “DIGITAL SCHOOLS FOR REMOTE AREAS – OSB AND PARTNERS,” launched by OSB Group in 2023, has delivered transformative support to underserved schools. Partnering with sponsors, OSB Group provided a solar power system to ensure continuous electricity for satellite internet, voice communication, and essential lighting, enhancing daily life and study conditions at Hang A School, part of Hoa Hue Preschool in Mu Cang Chai District, Yen Bai Province. Additionally, OSB established a satellite internet station, enabling teachers, students, and local residents to connect to the internet and make satellite calls, creating new opportunities to access vast knowledge resources and fostering a solid foundation for a bright, inclusive educational future.

With a mission to spread love and share social responsibility, OSB Group is continuing its charitable initiative in 2024 as part of the “DIGITAL SCHOOLS FOR REMOTE AREAS – OSB AND PARTNERS” program. This initiative aims to provide internet and voice services to teachers and students at remote schools, as well as to local residents in the deep, isolated areas of Dien Bien Province.

Nestled in the mountainous region of Northwest Vietnam, Nam Po District in Dien Bien Province presents a beautiful yet challenging landscape. Here, remote schools face numerous obstacles in accessing telecommunications and internet services due to the lack of grid electricity and mobile phone signal coverage.

Through research and information gathered from various media sources, along with the support and guidance of local government agencies, OSB Group became aware of the challenging circumstances faced by the teachers and students at Ho Hai 1 and Huoi Pung Schools. Here, students still encounter significant shortages in basic facilities and learning equipment, particularly in their ability to access the internet—the key that unlocks the door to knowledge in this era of technological advancement.

Ho Hai 1 School serves two classes, comprising 12 primary school students and 16 preschoolers, while Huoi Pung School accommodates a single class with 24 young children. Both schools are situated atop steep mountains, more than 40 kilometers from the district center, surrounded by challenging and rugged terrain. The journey to reach these schools is daunting, requiring travel by motorcycle along slippery dirt roads that are often steep and winding, making the trek a true test of resilience.

Lacking essential infrastructure, teachers here face countless difficulties in accessing and using online learning software or simply accessing modern educational and teaching materials. Teachers not only have to find ways to teach in poor conditions but also face information isolation, which makes updating new knowledge and teaching methods extremely difficult. To get study materials, many teachers have to travel dozens of kilometers to the lowlands, or climb high hills to catch phone signals. Every day that passes is a relentless effort to maintain the fire of learning, so that every word and every lesson can still reach students, even though the road to school is still full of obstacles. This is also a common difficulty for residents living in the area surrounding the school.

Understanding the challenges faced in education in remote areas and the lack of telecommunications infrastructure in villages, OSB Group is determined to extend a hand of compassion and support. As a private technology group in Vietnam engaged in telecommunications, e-commerce, and technology, OSB Group seeks to leverage its business strengths to contribute to the “DIGITAL SCHOOLS FOR REMOTE AREAS – OSB AND PARTNERS” charitable program for 2024, alongside partners like Hùng Việt Green Technology Joint Stock Company and TSTC Technical Services and Trading Co., Ltd

OSB Group has handed over the OSBSAT-1 satellite internet station and provided televisions, laptops, and gifts for the teachers and students at Huổi Púng School in Nậm Pồ District, Điện Biên Province.
OSB Group has successfully coordinated with Huổi Púng Preschool and Hô Hài 1 School to implement and establish a satellite internet station. This project aims to provide access to internet services for teachers, students, and local residents in nearby villages. The satellite dish system, connected to the OSBSAT-1 satellite, will deliver a stable internet connection, ensuring that teachers can gather teaching materials and update social information, while also enabling children to interact with new knowledge. Additionally, solar power systems have been installed at both schools to supply electricity for the learning and living needs of teachers and students.
On this occasion, OSB Group donated one television and one laptop to each of the two schools, as well as 50 gift packages for the students.
The installation of the satellite internet station not only enhances educational benefits but also plays a crucial role in the socio-economic development of the local community. With internet access at these schools, residents can easily access valuable information on agriculture, economics, healthcare, and job opportunities. This not only enhances knowledge and skills within the community but also opens avenues for trade connections, cultural exchanges, and creates a foundation to attract people back to their homeland for sustainable development. A stable internet infrastructure is a vital prerequisite for building a strong community that is poised for a promising future.
Mr. Tran Dinh Toan, Deputy CEO of OSB Group shared at the ceremony

At the ceremony, Mr. Trần Đình Toản, Deputy General Director of OSB Group, stated: “When the pathway to knowledge is opened, the future of future generations shines brighter. We are confident that our project to expand internet and telecommunications services here will provide teachers, students, and local residents access to a wealth of knowledge and diverse services, making the teaching and learning experience more convenient and seamless. This initiative will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between remote areas and developed regions across the province and the nation.”

OSB Group envisions that this project will serve as a foundation for the development of remote schools and villages, inspiring students with renewed confidence and a passion for learning, and fostering a sustainable and holistic educational future.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Dai, Vice Chairman of Nam Po District People’s Committee shared

Mr. Nguyen Huu Dai, Deputy Chairman of Nam Po District People’s Committee, expressed his heartfelt appreciation: “Bringing satellite internet to underserved schools like Ho Hai 1 and Huoi Pung not only provides students with access to invaluable knowledge but also connects the entire community. This initiative serves as a vital bridge, bringing residents closer to the world and opening up a wealth of learning opportunities, cultural exchanges, and development prospects that were previously out of reach.”

The “expanding” internet project at two remote schools in Dien Bien not only bridges the technological divide but also transforms the local community into a more modern learning and living environment. Teachers, students, and villagers are now liberated from geographical constraints, gaining direct access to a wealth of new information and knowledge from around the globe. This initiative serves as a strong foundation, elevating educational quality while promoting sustainable development throughout the community and unlocking new opportunities for local residents’ lives.

The Nam Po Red Cross awarded the “Golden Heart” certificate to OSB Group and partners

With unwavering efforts in the journey of “Digital Schools for Remote Areas – OSB and Partners,” OSB Group reaffirms its commitment to community service and creating positive changes for the future of education in remote areas.

Let us join hands to make the dream of internet access and communication a reality for schools and villages in the farthest corners of our S-shaped country, extending opportunities for teachers, students, and local residents to access information and a wealth of knowledge.
