Investing in research and development of aerospace technology is also part of fulfilling the requirements outlined in the Political Bureau’s Resolution on developing the defense industry towards proactivity, self-reliance, dual-use capability, and modernization. Vietnamese enterprises are now capable of mastering and collaborating with numerous countries in the aerospace sector.

Many aerospace products manufactured in Vietnam have incorporated the world’s technological advancements. This is exemplified by the aerospace technology products currently on display at the Vietnam Defence Expo 2024 in Hanoi.

A radar model capable of tracking and detecting objects, meteoroids, or space debris in outer space has been developed as a collaborative product between Vietnamese enterprises and German companies.

The signal amplifier, which can be used across various fields such as television transmission, radar signal reception, UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) control, and aerospace equipment, is entirely mastered by Vietnam.

Mr. Trần Vũ Thưởng, Deputy Director of OSB Hightech Co., Ltd., stated: “From design, simulation, assembly, manufacturing, and product testing before market launch, this device is entirely developed by Vietnamese engineers.”

This Vietnamese enterprise also emphasized that with the booming aerospace sector, Vietnam cannot remain on the sidelines. Vietnamese businesses have already made preparations to actively participate in the global supply chain.

“In our perspective, the path for Vietnamese enterprises and industries lies in a balanced approach—learning, creating, and collaborating with international technology partners. Through technology transfer, training, and joint ventures, we can swiftly deliver products that not only meet domestic demands but also align with the global landscape,” said Mr. Nguyễn Hồng Sơn, Chairman of OSB Group.

Recently, during a meeting with U.S. aerospace, defense, and security companies attending the Vietnam International Defence Exhibition, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính urged these enterprises to enhance cooperation, investment, and production in Vietnam. In the coming years, to achieve the goal of double-digit annual growth, Vietnam will prioritize the development of emerging industries and sectors, exploring new growth frontiers such as outer space, the aerospace economy, maritime space, and underground space.
