Aiming for sustainable development, the 2024 Digital Transformation Forum for Industry and Trade, hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and co-organized by the E-Commerce and Digital Economy Agency, the Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy, the Industrial Agency, and the IEC Group, will take place on November 21, 2024, at the Diplomatic Hotel, Hanoi. Under the theme “Digital Transformation Drives Green and Sustainable Transition,” the event emphasizes digital transformation in electricity, energy, and e-commerce—key pillars for Vietnam’s long-term and sustainable economic development.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr. Trương Thanh Hoài, attended and delivered the opening speech at the Forum. The event also featured the participation of Ms. Lê Hoàng Oanh, Director of the E-Commerce and Digital Economy Agency; Mr. Phạm Nguyên Hùng, Director of the Industrial Agency; Mr. Tăng Thế Hùng, Deputy Director of the Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy; along with leaders from Ministry and sector agencies, Departments of Industry and Trade from provinces and cities, representatives of associations, organizations, experts, and over 500 businesses engaged in digital transformation, e-commerce development, smart manufacturing, and energy.
The discussion sessions at the Forum brought together leading experts, technology business executives, and regulatory agency representatives to share and explore digitalization opportunities in energy management, smart grid development, and renewable energy system optimization. Additionally, e-commerce, a vital domain in the digital economy, was spotlighted with advanced technological solutions aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and boosting competitiveness in a globalized environment.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister Trương Thanh Hoài noted, “The global economy is now in a recovery phase after a prolonged period of challenges. By September 2024, most international organizations have expressed greater optimism about the economic growth forecast for 2024, predicting a global GDP growth of approximately 3.2%. Similarly, Vietnam’s economy is projected to grow by 0.9 to 1.1 percentage points higher in 2024 compared to 2023. Against this backdrop, Vietnam’s e-commerce and digital economy continue to shine as bright spots in socio-economic development. Retail e-commerce will remain a cornerstone, contributing $22 billion, an 18% increase year-on-year, and accounting for 61% of the total internet economy scale. According to research entities, Vietnam’s robust growth is expected to remain stable, driven by manufacturing, processing, and export sectors. By 2030, the gross merchandise value (GMV) of the entire market could range between $90 billion and $200 billion.”
The Forum serves as an important milestone in developing and implementing policies and solutions to promote digital transformation. It convenes infrastructure solution providers, exemplary digital technology adopters, and key businesses in e-commerce, manufacturing, and energy to discuss and evaluate digital transformation progress across these domains. It also addresses digital solutions aimed at achieving green and sustainable development goals in the future.
The 2024 Digital Transformation Forum for Industry and Trade features a plenary session and two thematic workshops focused on “Digital Transformation – Green Transition in Manufacturing and Energy” and “Sustainable E-Commerce Development Trends in the Digital Era.”
As one of the experienced units in the e-commerce field, OSB Group actively contributed to Workshop 2 with a presentation titled “Current Situation and Solutions to Promote Exports via E-Commerce.”

Speaking at the event, Mr. Trần Đình Toản, Deputy General Director of OSB Group and a member of the Online Export Support Alliance (VESA) under VECOM, affirmed the continuous development of e-commerce in recent years. He stated, “E-commerce has become a prevalent export promotion channel for Vietnamese enterprises. Among these, multi-channel export promotion is one of the leading trends in the e-commerce industry. Concurrently, export support channels through e-commerce are becoming increasingly diverse, including e-wallets, credit cards, international payment gateways, and optimized logistics services, all of which are assisting businesses in expanding their markets.”
Within the framework of Workshop 2, a panel discussion titled “Developing Green and Sustainable E-Commerce” was also held, featuring leading experts in the e-commerce field. The discussion was lively, highlighting both the advantages and challenges posed by e-commerce while proposing practical solutions for e-commerce enterprises and relevant authorities.

Focusing on sustainable e-commerce transformation, Mr. Trần Đình Toản emphasized, “Enhancing export capacity remains a pressing issue, requiring businesses to continuously improve and update their skills, especially as e-commerce experiences market fluctuations.” He also highlighted the importance of addressing branding as a crucial factor that must be prioritized and resolved promptly to improve Vietnam’s export performance, which still holds significant potential.

The 2024 Digital Transformation Forum for Industry and Trade concluded successfully, marking another significant event in promoting and guiding digital transformation across key economic sectors such as electricity, energy, and e-commerce. The event also underscored the robust application of digital technology to enhance competitiveness and resilience for businesses and organizations in the new context.
