OSB Group, a leading Vietnamese technology and satellite communications group, and Kinéis, the French satellite IoT operator, today announced the signature of a cooperation agreement to accelerate the deployment of satellite-based Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity across Vietnam.
Under this agreement, the two companies will jointly develop and promote satellite IoT solutions targeting sectors such as agriculture, maritime, logistics, and environmental monitoring with a particular focus on remote areas of Vietnam beyond the reach of terrestrial networks.
Concretely, the partnership will enable a wide range of IoT applications across Vietnam:
- In agriculture, satellite-connected sensors will allow farmers to monitor soil conditions, water levels, and weather patterns in real time across vast rural areas.
- Environmental monitoring solutions will enable continuous tracking of air quality, flood risk, and forest fire detection in remote regions currently unreachable by terrestrial networks.
- In the maritime sector, vessels and buoys operating in Vietnamese waters will benefit from permanent connectivity for fleet tracking, cargo monitoring, and safety alerts along key shipping lanes.
- For logistics and supply chain operators, assets in transit – whether by road, rail, or sea — will remain traceable end-to-end across the country.
- In the defence domain, the constellation’s secure, sovereign data transmission capabilities open new possibilities for the monitoring of critical infrastructure and border areas.
Leveraging Kinéis’ global IoT satellite system, OSB will design, manufacture, and develop satellite terminal devices and applications in-house tailored to Vietnam’s digital and industrial development needs. These locally developed solutions will enable end-to-end IoT connectivity across the country while ensuring compatibility with Vietnam’s strategic priorities.
